How is Plus different from SmartMag Classic on ThemeForest?
The original ThemeForest SmartMag under Envato license, support, and refund terms, with smaller updates. Plus plans are sold directly by us with bigger features and lifetime or yearly updates. See the full Classic vs Plus comparison.
Envato takes a 60-70% cut of every ThemeForest sale. Buying Plus means your money funds development and supports the developers instead of commission.
We highly recommend using the Plus version as we are not sure whether ThemeForest will still exist 6 months from now.
Will my Classic sites keep working in the future?
Yes. Everything keeps working and Classic stays maintained with small updates for compatibility.
What changes is the pace: smaller releases, fewer new features, and no new demos. Those all go to SmartMag Plus.
What happens to my Classic license?
It stays valid. Nothing is deleted as part of the upgrade, and you can use it on a second site if you want, for free.
Is the upgrade process simple?
Yes. We have figured out the most simple architecture for it. You don't have to change anything.
All you have to do is deactivate your old license and activate the new one. Done.
No uploading new theme, no conversion, all done with 2 clicks.
Will my content or settings break when I switch?
No. Plus is the same theme with a new license. Posts, Customizer settings, widgets and menus all carry over. Only the license changes.
Do I need to reinstall the theme?
No. Keep your current install. Deactivate the old license under SmartMag > Welcome, activate the new license and you are on Plus.
Yearly or lifetime, which should I pick?
Yearly costs less today and renews each year. Lifetime is one payment with updates and support forever under fair usage. Both include the same features.
What happens if I don't renew my subscription?
Your sites keep working with all the functionality. You keep the theme files but lose new updates, demo imports that need a key, Smart Studio, and support until you subscribe again.
Do staging sites use up my license?
No. Local, staging and development copies of a licensed site are always free. Only live, public sites use up your slots.
